How about the Weather resistance for UV ink?

  • The weather resistance of a finished print depends upon several factors including: ink type, print material, and environmental conditions.

[Detail]:
If your printer has “Hard Ink”:

The “Hard Ink” has very little weather resistance. Exposure to rain will cause water to penetrate between the ink layer and print material. The Ink layer will lose adhesion and separate from the material surface.

Caution:
・ The membrane of printed ink is hard. So if you try to laminate the print result, the pressure will crack the hardened ink surface while it goes through a laminator. Therefore, we do not recommend you to laminate the “Hard Ink” prints.
・ You may increase the weather resistance if you coat the print surface with a protective spray. We recommend that you test and see the finished result before beginning full production.

If your printer has “Flexible Ink”:
The “Flexible Ink” has higher weather resistance than the “Hard Ink”.
The printed color will be discolored little by UV, but all colors are discolored in almost same time, same level.
You can have better weather resistance if you laminate the print result.

Caution:
・ If you do not laminate the print result, the print surface gets dirt or the color will be discolored easily.
・ We do not recommend you to over coat the surface with a “Solvent spray”. The cured ink will get soft and comes off from the print material.

The above information is instructional. Results are not guaranteed.
The finished print durability will vary by material type and the environmental conditions at the print location.
So please test for each case before beginning full production.
